Halfling Home 8 is Complete!
about 2 years ago – Thu, Oct 13, 2022 at 09:00:14 PM

Here is is, Halfling Home #8!

Halfling Home #8 is complete and ready for download!  Please check your Backerkit account in order to download the file and get printing.  With this home, we tried something a little more unique from the rest of the homes, adding in an old ancient gnarly tree as a canopy support to the front porch of this little home.  With loads of character, printed and painted this is sure to be a treasure on the tabletop!

Both pre-supported and unsupported files are included in the download.

There were two individuals with issues in regards to the files of the previous watermill.  I believe this is due to the high polygon count having over 1 million for each individual section of the mill.  This was done as we now have 8k 3d printers and we were hoping to get the most out of the models in terms of detail.  However, if there are more having issues with these files please let me know in the comments below of this update and we can decimate the models to a lower polygon count and make the models more user friendly for those with computers that may be struggling with the high polygon count, or having issues with their printers.

The Watermill and Merchant stalls are here!
about 2 years ago – Tue, Sep 27, 2022 at 09:42:35 PM

It's here!

Well, it didn't come as early as I'd hoped for, but rest assured it will be well worth the wait.  The watermill, after MUCH testing and revisions in an extremely tedious process,  we now have the long awaited watermill in print ready format for you to enjoy on your gaming table!

The initial design was to have the upper top section split in a manner where the chimney and windows/rooms were separated from the main structure.  This was designed to help hide the seams between roof sections and make Milliput/Greens-Stuff/2 part epoxy putty gap filling work at a minimum.  However after many long hours of tweaking,  printing and testing it was soon realized this wouldn't work as the shingles proved to be counter active in getting the rooms and chimney to fit into the side of the roof.  There was too much detailed geometry getting in the way for a nice snug fit.   This printing and testing process is extremely time consuming, which contributed to the delays which you have my apologies for.  However, I was determined not to rush something out but make this as print and user friendly as possible to make the experience of assembly an enjoyable process on your end.

This image is of some of the initial split pieces that did not properly fit and it was back to the drawing board.

And this is the final splitting of the model.

As of this update everything is available on Backerkit if you have the stretch goals in your Tier or placed a late pledge order containing the watermill and merchant stalls.

There are two merchant stalls as well!  One with meat, the other veggies for you halfling fall time community market.

The second door option for the halfling homes will be made available per halfling home as they are complete so as not to keep you waiting!  These are on their way so keep an eye out in the coming days as they are made available to download.

Happy printing, gaming, and painting!

The Final Stretch!
over 2 years ago – Thu, Jul 28, 2022 at 02:02:37 AM

We're almost there!!!

We've been busy working away in the background getting the watermill complete, as well as the other final stretch goals for the final stages of The Hillside Hamlet Kickstarter!  The Watermill is finished it's sculpting phase, now I have the arduous task of splitting it into printable sections that will fit on the smaller resin printers for assembly to then be assembled.

I'm EXRTREMELY happy with how this has turned out.  It has that quintessential Halfling Home feel to it, while at the same time could be used for a completely generic building for your standard human sized race if you so choose to use it for that.  Again, I'm in love with the overall aesthetic and very exited to share these images with you below.  We're getting this ready for print as I write this and onto your 3D printers ASAP!

One quick not on the Interchangeable Doors Stretch Goal.  It's looking like it might be faster and a lot less complicated where instead of being interchangeable, to make a second version of each home with a new, unique door specific to that home.  The second version would be ROUND doors for all the homes that have a square bottom door, while making these unique to each home and full of it's own character, and a square bottomed door for each home that already has a round door.  This also has the benefit of creating a much more seamless and unique look to each home, whereas there would need to be a standardized/generic "look" to the doors in order to have them all fit interchangeably with one another on the other hand.  If you could comment below what you think of this that would be highly appreciated!

In the meantime, here are some images of the Watermill for you to salivate over as we get it ready for print!  The merchant stalls are on their way as well!

Stay tuned for the next update!

First Stretch Goal Files released!

FIRST STRETCH GOALS OUT!  The Stone Bridge and "Empty" Ale Wagon have been released!

They're out!  The first of the stretch goals have been released.  I know I promised these last week but there were some unexpected issues during printing that had to get sorted out before sending the files, which had taken longer than expected to resolve.  Our sincerest apologies there however, we have also completed the empty version of the Ale Wagon and couldn't be happier with the detail!  Currently these files are without supports but we are working on getting the supported versions ready for you as well.  Happy printing!

Here are some renders of the Ale wagon in a more stylized fashion for you to enjoy!

NOTE: We are doing some final tweaks on the merchant stalls so stay tuned for that as well as the Stone Bridge version 2 and Ale Wagon with ale barrels.

Update March 2022!
over 2 years ago – Mon, Mar 07, 2022 at 01:37:11 PM

We have Bridges, Market Stalls and Wagons on the way!

Hey everyone!  Apologies as it's been some time since our last update, but we have good news on the horizon!   The Bridges, Market Stalls and Wagons are soon to be released!!  The Watermill is still under construction and we are making progress as well.  However, the other three Stretch Goals are about to be released.  Keep an eye out for an email from Backerkit over the next week as these files will be added to your inventory if you'd pledged at a level which includes stretch goals.

As a sneak peek, here is a look at one of the Bridge designs, with another variation of the design under way more suited to our Halfling friends.  Below is the more generic design, good for many different gaming and diorama scenarios.

And then we have a quick WIP of one of the merchant stalls.  There will be several stalls with various foods and grains etc.  Keep in mind this is still a WIP!  A couple variations of the cloth.  Working on various textures as well for the canvas.

The wagon is soon to be complete as well but we'll post an image as soon as we are ready to do so and shortly after release the STLs.

Thanks everyone for your patience.  We are getting close to the finish line!
