Your Backerkit Survey is on it's way!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Dec 31, 2021 at 09:28:09 AM

We are now on Backerkit!

Greetings Hobbyists!

Good news, we are in the process of getting Backerkit surveys distributed to your inboxes in very short measure!  These surveys are very straight forward and you do not need a Backerkit account to fill out your survey.  It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards.  Just click on the link that will be sent to your email, fill it out and you're good to go!  You'll be answering questions about your reward preferences and pick any add-ons you might wish to add to your order.

We sincerely thank you for your patience as Backerkit is a new process for us that takes a lot to learn and figure out!  The catalogue of files to distribute to the various pledges makes it a bit complicated, and getting things set up properly for distribution is a very tedious task that takes a lot to learn and make sure everything is set up properly.   So we've tested, and tested some more, and then tested again!

The GREAT NEWS is that you'll soon have access to all files that are ready!  We mentioned December to roll these files out and it has taken a little longer than anticipated as it is now the end of December.  But, rest easy as you are still receiving the files much earlier than the initial delivery date of July 2022 and we are committed to getting them to you ASAP!  :) It may take up to 2 business days for Backerkit to review the setup, which we were not anticipating so please be patient if you're survey is not delivered until early next week as it was our impression we could deliver immediately upon having set everything up.

Keep an eye out for your email and we will be getting the available files delivered in short manner!

Progress Update!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Dec 03, 2021 at 12:19:04 AM

Significant progress on the Watermill!

Hello everyone!  We've got a VERY exciting update for you which has come a little bit later than was planning for, but I think you'll find it well worth the wait!

First, BIG NEWS!  The distribution of the completed files will be occurring within the month of December!  This is exciting news as you'll be able to get all the completed halfling homes and scatter terrain that are readily available.  This does not include any stretch goals so the interchangeable doors to the halfling homes wont be ready, but you can still download the homes with the affixed doors as seen in all the renders and screenshots from the campaign imagery.  You will still be able to download the files with interchangeable doors once they are ready if your pledge includes the stretch goals.

(NOTE: There are three animated .gif images on this page.  If you don't see 3 animations please patiently wait as they should load shortly.)

Next, we have almost the entire first floor of the watermill printed out!  If it wasn't for an FEP sheet gone bad I'd have the larger piece along with the wheel piece printed.  Instead, as I wait for the shipping on some new film you can have a look at the renders of these two sections below which make up the other half of the main floor.  The reason the one section is as large as it is, is to demonstrate how these will also be sent as optional larger files for those with FDM printers to print as larger pieces.  This piece will be broken into smaller sections for the resin printers as seen with the other doorway, wall and corner pieces.  We will will also be optimizing for the least amount of resin to be consumed with these pieces while still keeping things functional.  These test pieces are a bit too thick as far as the inner wall goes, even though they are hollowed.  This will be made smaller and more efficient to preserve that precious resin and FDM filament!

NOTE: Below is just one version of the waterwheel wall section that is cut for D&D style flat surface tabletop gameplay.  There will also be a version with the full wheel where the wall and wheel are separated.  A hole in the wall piece will be made for the wheel to spin freely, or to be glued into place if you so choose.

Other Half of Main Floor:

Things are coming along and once the funds have been fully transferred, we will be hiring some artists to help get the remaining Stretch Goals and files completed and out the door for you to get printing and enjoy for yourselves!  Thanks everyone again for backing and you'll be notified as soon as you can start your downloading come early December!  Stay tuned for more updates to follow!

WE DID IT!!!!!!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Nov 16, 2021 at 03:54:05 AM

The Kickstarter campaign has ended and it has been a HUGE success!

I just want to personally thank you all for choosing to back the project and seeing the value and effort we've put into these models.  They've been built with so much love and care and to get these and it is amazing you've all stepped in to back the project to get your hands on this collection of high quality premium STLs.  We've reached so many stretch goals which is amazing and I'm just so happy about that.

Now it's time to buckle down and get things moving!   We are working on implementing a pledge manager to help distribute the files and make that process as simple and as easy as possible.   There were questions about delivering the ready files early, prior to all files being complete.  This seems possible but for now there are no guarantees on this.  It is something we are definitely looking at and working on to make possible.  Stay tuned for an update on that later in the week.  We'll be keeping you regularly updated on progress/development and keep you all in the loop as things move forward.  Cheers everyone and we can't wait to get these files printing on that printer of yours ASAP!

FINAL STRETCH! Just over 48 hours to go!
over 2 years ago – Sun, Nov 14, 2021 at 11:57:52 AM

48 HOURS TO GO, can we hit yet another stretch goal!?

This is the final stretch and man, we've gone way farther than I'd ever anticipated we would with this with yet ANOTHER stretch goal reached at $40,000 CAD!   That means interchangeable doors including the round, barrel top cellar doors that will second as scatter terrain.   Absolutely mind boggling and with a BIG, final push, we can hopefully hit the next Stretch Goal at $50,000!  If you haven't been doing so already be sure to share the Kickstarter at all your favorite hobby hangouts online and lets give this one final BIG PUSH!

We've been detailing the watermill and working on a system to make these bigger buildings very printer friendly for those resin printers to get the highest quality and detail achievable for these models.  Developing the "modular" system to section off each of the components for printing has been an interesting process.  We want to be as thorough with that as possible to make this as easy and stress free for you with assembly as we can.

Apart from developing a system to break things down into easy to assemble, printable parts, we've started detail work on the watermill and it is coming along very nicely!  Here's a sneak peek at that and hopefully you can use your imagination to take you where the rest of the building is headed!

For anyone wondering, the windows will be left open (as a hole in the wall) for you to light up the interiors using things like battery lit tea lights if you so wish.  We'll also be adding multiple options for the waterwheel: 1) Wheel will be flattened flush with the base of the house to fit on your tabletop 2) A full wheel for more intricate bases/dioramas that can be set in a river of your own making.

Lets keep this going and see if we can reach that next stretch goal within the next 48 hours!

Watermill 3D Concept Design!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Nov 09, 2021 at 06:37:52 AM

Officially half way through with the Watermill already starting to take shape!

Hey everyone!  So, we are already over halfway through this crazy ride and heading quickly towards the finish line with many Stretch Goals already having been reached!

I took the time yesterday to come up with an initial concept for the watermill.  This is not the final design and things are still subject to change as the mechanics for 3D Printing are ironed out and the model stars to take shape in Zbrush.  However, this is more or less the "general" design and the direction I really would like to take the model.  LOADS of character and detail is yet to be added so put your imagination to the test and envision how things will look after all the timbers and stone and many of the little details are applied to the design seen below.  Leave your feedback in the comments and let me know your thought's and suggestions!  I take all comments and suggestions to heart so all input is deeply appreciated!

Stay tuned for more as the model starts to take shape in the coming week!
